In this series I aim to capture the essence of peaceful coexistence and balance. Inspired by the beauty of nature and the strength and elegance of women, I have created a visual representation of harmony.
Through this, I explore the concept of finding harmony amidst the complexities of life, where true harmony can be achieved when we embrace our inner strength and connect with the world around us. “Salvation” was inspired by poems of Langston Hughes (the American social activist and poet). Dance and Blues play major role in Hughes poems, allusion to freedom and loneliness. All backgrounds and customs are also made using various hemp fabrics, with background forms and shapes inspired by paintings by Mary Obering (American abstract painter).
The custom painted background and hemp fabric outfit designed by me to achieve a hormonal color scheme to add depth and enhance visual literacy and poetry.
