Diversiform
Diversiform, a collaborative series between Forough Yavari and Afshin Jafari, captures the richness of human experience through layers of golden acrylic sheets interlocked to shape a woman’s figure. The deliberate absence of a heart in the sculpture invites reflection on the different layers that make up each person.
In life, we wear various layers that shape who we are. This sculpture suggests that, like the layers of acrylic, our lives are diverse. The empty space instead of a heart symbolizes a universal longing we all share.
What makes this sculpture unique is the intentional variation in the spaces between the layers. Some are far apart, creating open spaces, while others are close together, representing the different experiences and relationships that make up our lives. This placement highlights how interconnected our experiences are, celebrating the diverse stories that make us human.
The choice of golden acrylic adds another layer of meaning, symbolizing the inherent value and preciousness of each individual. Gold, with its timeless and universal significance, underscores the idea that every life is a valuable story waiting to be explored.
‘Diversiform – Hungry Heart’ invites viewers to reflect on the complexity of their own layers and the varying distances that shape their connections with others. As you engage with this piece, consider the interplay of space and form, prompting a thoughtful exploration of your own story and the rich tapestry of human existence.
